Safety and Efficacy of Recombinant Human Bone Morphogenetic Protein-2 (rhBMP-2) in Craniofacial Surgery

Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery – Global Open

This study evaluated the safety and clinical effectiveness of recombinant human bone morphogenetic protein-2 (rhBMP-2) in craniofacial reconstructive procedures. Reviewing patient outcomes, the authors found that rhBMP-2 supported successful bone regeneration with acceptable complication rates when used in appropriately selected cases. The findings suggest that rhBMP-2 can serve as a valuable adjunct in craniofacial reconstruction, offering an alternative to traditional bone grafting while maintaining favorable safety and efficacy profiles.
