Above and Beyond

The best way to share how Dr. Ramly goes above and beyond is to paint a picture of the full scope of the situation. Almost two years ago my son had the unfortunate accident of a broken nose on top of a preexisting deviated septum. His breathing was pretty terrible before the broken nose. After the break, he was almost entirely reliant on breathing by mouth only. He was eager to find a surgeon who could fix his broken nose and correct the deviated septum. We were lucky to have gone to the ER at MGH Boston. At MGH we were given a referral to MGH plastic surgery for a follow up assessment. That is how we had the pleasure of meeting Dr. Ramly. Upon our first meeting with Dr. Ramly, his attentive and caring nature made it clear to us right away; his top concern is his patient’s well being and quality of life. I can honestly say Dr. Ramly truly cares deeply about your concerns and how to get you to where you would like to be. My son had a tight schedule going back to school out of state (and later planned on joining the national guard). Dr. Ramly was willing and able to stick by my son and work him into the schedule for when he returned from school and scheduled the surgery within enough time to heal properly before leaving for bootcamp. Dr. Ramly’s priority was to ensure my son would be able to breathe better than he had ever been able to before and to get back the facial balance he had lost due to a severely broken nose. During the first meeting for my son’s breathing issues, Dr. Ramly noticed I too had a deviated septum. I had been given a referral by my primary care doctor for a deviated septum corrective surgery nearly a year prior to this; however, as many mothers may be able to relate, we often put off appointments for ourselves. Dr. Ramly made space within my son’s assessment appointment to provide an in office exam and discuss a plan and return visit to treat my condition as well. As it turned out, due to my son returning to school, I had my septo-rhinoplasty first. This worked out perfectly, where I was able to share my pre and post surgery experience with my son who was scheduled for early spring the following year. We both had successful outcomes: noses straightened out and deviated septa corrected. Optimal breathing is achievable through septoplasty and in our cases, septo-rhinoplasty. Both of us are breathing easy now. I am enjoying a more balanced facial symmetry as well. Dr. Ramly is exceptional in his approach. He took the time to explain both conditions, the surgical process, recovery process and continued care post surgery. It has now been a full year later since my surgery and I am very pleased with the results. My son is still away training, but what a difference it has made for him! The physical demands of boot camp and military training require optimal breathing. He was able to pass the physical tests and demands and continues to improve. The West coast is very fortunate to gain a doctor that is both experienced and knowledgable as well as deeply caring and passionate about his work and his patients. We are forever grateful. Thank you Dr. Ramly!
